The complete overhaul of our beloved 1971 Ponti Building and the new Welcome Center have been the legacy project of a whole generation of Denver Art Museum professionals and donors and Chris Grundy was the master behind the scenes. With his calm and focused mind he became immediately a trusted partner who kept a myriad of different aspects on track and moved forward complicated construction with highly innovative materials and design as well as smaller and sensitive aspects of public art and community involvement. Saunders had the opportunity to work closely with Chris on the Martin Building renovation and expansion. The project was an extremely complex renovation and addition that involved changes to every building system as well as design and construction of a first of its kind building envelope system. Chris was an immensely valuable part of the overall project team. His ongoing assistance with project planning and problem solving was essential to the success of the project. Chris continually assisted the Saunders’ team with identifying and resolving critical issues throughout the project. Chris’s support and ability to be an effective liaison between Saunders, the design team and Denver Art Museum staff was key to the project’s success
